when Start drawing, you can specify a metric unit for a new image. Settings you choose will determine the default values are used to control many system variables text, dimensions, grid, snap, and the default linetype and hatch patterns file.
• Imperial. Creating a new image based on the imperial measurement system. Figure internally using a default value, and the default grid view limit, called the grid boundaries, is a 12 × 9 inches.
• Metrics. Creating a new image based on the metric measurement system. Figure internally using a default value, and the default grid view is a limit of 429 × 297 millimeters.
Use the Select Template Dialog Box
Select Template dialog box will be displayed under the following conditions:
• You set the Startup system variable to 0 (off).
• You set the variable to FILEDIA system 1 (on).
• You click New on the File menu or, by default, Qnew on the Standard toolbar.
In the bottom right corner of the Select Template dialog box, there is the Open button with the arrow keys on the side. If you click the arrow buttons, you can choose between two images of internal template default, metric or imperial.
Use the Default Drawing Template File
The fastest way to start working on a new image to start automatically with the default image template file. There is no dialog box will appear with this method:
• You set the Startup system variable to 0 (off).
• You set the variable to FILEDIA system 1 (on).

• You set the default drawing template file in the Options dialog box on the File tab. Click the node labeled "Drawing Template Settings" and determine the path and the image template file.

• Qnew you click on the Standard toolbar.
From now on, a new image is immediately made based on the standard template file specified image.
If no template file specified in the Options dialog box, display QNEW Select Template dialog box.
